Music, Obcrlin and Amer­ican Conservatories, private study with Oscar Seagle. Taught at Grin-nell Coll., Illinois Coll., James Millikin Univ., and Dean of Music, at Univ. of Redlands, 1925-42. Supervisor of adult chorus of Bureau of Music of City of Los Angeles 1943-48; also conducted and taught privately. Or­ganized under sponsorship of Calif. State Fed. of Music Clubs and Choral Conductors' Guild of So. Calif., a "Choral Festival," giving annual con­certs. Composer of standard works in­cluding sacred and secular works for solo and chorus. Songs: "Recollec­tion"; "Nocturne"; "Omnipresence"; "The Water of Life"; "The Bread of Life"; "God Is Love"; "O Love of God", "Ye Shall Know the Truth", etc. Choral works include: "A Christ­mas Choralogue"; "A Pastoral Chora-logue"; "A Passion Choralogue"; "The West"; "Light Alter Darkness", "Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind"; also twenty hymn-anthems for choir and congregation, several albums of chil­dren's songs. manager theatrical office, produced vaudeville units. To Europe 1913. Appeared in Paris and London night clubs; then in N.Y. member staff pop­ular music publishing houses. Or­ganized own publishing house, 1931-35; then became general manager music publishing houses, New York.
